Dragon ball z movies and animated films KAI is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Akira Toriyama. Originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1984 to 1995, then 519 individual chapters in 42 volumes published to tankōbon by Shueisha. Dragon Ball was inspired by Chinese folk novel Journey to the West. It follows the adventures of Son Goku from his childhood to adulthood as she trains in martial arts and exploring the world in search of seven mystical objects known as the Dragon Balls, which can summon dragon-granting wishes when assembled. Along his journey, Goku makes a few friends and battle various villains, many of whom are also looking for the Dragon Balls for their own desires.
The tankōbon 42 has been adapted into two anime series produced by Toei Animation: Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, which together broadcast in Japan from 1986 to 1996. Besides, Toei has developed seventeen animated films and three television specials, and the third a short anime spin-off titled Dragon Ball GT, which occurred after the events of the manga. In 2009, Toei started broadcast version, fast-paced revision Dragon Ball Dragon Ball Z with the name of Kai, where most of the material that is not shown in the manga removed.
This manga series is licensed for English release in North America by Viz Media, in the UK by Gollancz Manga, and in Australia and New Zealand by Chuang Yi. Anime series has been licensed by FUNimation Entertainment to release the English language around the world, even though the series has been dubbed a few times by various studios. In China, a live-action adaptation film produced in 1989. In 2002, 20th Century Fox acquired the rights to produce a live-action film made in America, which was released on April 10, 2009 lambast critical.
